Russell went with his brothers to Oklahoma City in 1907, age 15. He came back home
to Elsmore KS in 1916/17 and finished highschool. He joined the army for a short
stay in 1917, and he and Ralph went to Porterville CA shortly afterward and drove
creamery trucks. Russell also worked for the Edison Co. while in Porterville.
Russell had met Grace Record at Humboldt highschool. (Grace Record was a friend of his sister Grace.) Grace Record joined Russell in Santa Barbara, and they were married at her brother's house. His main occupation was farmer-dairyman. Russell died of leukemia. "He was quiet, kind, and only spoke a request once, and you'd better hear and get it right. But he never got angry at us when we were young--not even when I wrecked his car." ... Barbara Andruss Irwin -Merriam Morrison Kokojan, 1983 Orville Rice Andruss Family History |
