Alpheus was born March 15, 1825, in Hawkins Co. TN. He learned to be a tinner from
his father. He married Susan A. B. Young on Nov. 20, 1855 and fathered two boys,
William and John, before he died just two years later. He is buried in McFarlane
"Hill" Cemetery, Russellville TN.
He must have been sick or injured, because he made an oral will before he died (unusual in those days) giving Erastus his interest in a store and custody of his children.
